Are You Good In Frying Fish
How to start breeding tropical fish?

I’m thinking about breeding tropical fish for a fun way to make a little change. I love fish and am interested in how to breed live fry. I have plenty of time to tend to the fish. So can you all give me some tips on good starter fish for me, average investment and selling prices and anything else helpful will be greatly appreciated. I plan to do some research and start in a few months. I would like to try the easiest breed first.

Please help! Especially if you breed or have bred. Thanks!

Yes, I breed fish, and like almost everybody who breeds fish, I lose money on them.
Especially if you count your time as being worth anything, you’d be better advised to go into some other business if making a profit is your aim.

However, breeding fish is a fascinating and extremely rewarding (in intangibles) activity.

My advice about which fish to start with is to start with the fish you are most interested in, because those are the ones you are most likely to stick with over the long haul and invest the necessary time and effort to be successful with them. Don’t worry so much about what other people say is “easy” or “difficult” to breed. Many of us have “easy” fish we can’t get to breed and “difficult” fish that breed like crazy.

Another approach is to poll pet shops in your area to see what fish are their hottest sellers. However, many pet shops now get all their fish through a huge corporate distribution system, meaning they don’t buy from small breeders. That’s one of the reasons it’s hard to make a profit as a hobbyist-breeder.

The other most important thing to have is many fish tanks and/or ponds. You will need far more of them than you think.
