Fish Oil For Baby – For A Smart, Amazing Healthy Baby

Surely, you do have a lot of questions when it comes to omega 3 fish oil for baby.

Is it safe? How can I assure myself that it’s going to be of great advantage to my child? Worry no more. The answers to your questions are available here.

Is fish oil safe?

The answer to this question is both a yes and a no. It is not safe if you’re not sure where the fish is coming from.

If it was removed from polluted waters, then the fish would definitely be contaminated with pollutants. If you eat fish, you introduce these toxins into your body and pass them on to your baby.

If you want to be completely safe on fish oil, it’s best to take fish oil supplements. Make sure that it’s 100 percent pure, which means any possible contaminants have already been removed.

Be careful on the fish used too. For example, there’s a lesser risk of using fish oil from salmon than from mackerel.

What benefits will my baby get from Omega 3?

Fish oil contains omega3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA, which will be fundamental in the growth and development of your child.

DHA will make up 70 percent of your baby’s brain. It will also improve his vision and central nervous system. It can also increase your baby’s weight and can hinder type 1 diabetes.

When your baby grows up, he or she will have excellent learning abilities. He or she will develop wide vocabulary, high attentiveness level, superb performance in examinations, and high IQ than other kids of the same age. He or she will also be less prone to infection and have stronger immune system.

Can I newborn baby take fish oil?

Initially, the answer is no. Continuous supply of DHA and EPA will be taken from his or her mother through breast-feeding. However, once your baby learns how to eat, you can start introducing fish to his or her diet.

It’s best to begin with fish with white flesh such as cod and haddock since they are very safe. They are also less likely to cause allergic reactions to your baby.

When is the best time to take omega 3?

You don’t have to be pregnant before you start taking omega 3 supplements. In fact, you should make it a habit while you’re still trying to conceive since it can help you produce better eggs.

However, you may want to increase your dosage during the last trimester of your pregnancy. By this time, your baby suddenly grows faster, and there are a lot of developments that are taking place.

A Guide to the Benefits of Fish Oil Supplements

The benefits of fish oil supplements are probably the best known of all dietary supplements, containing omega3 and rightly so. Here I will outline the main ones and how to get the maximum health impact from them.

The most well known is its anti-inflammatory properties including protection against heart disease. The omega 3 fatty acids in the oil help to prevent the blood from clotting and also reduce the fats related to cholesterol, saving thousands of lives each year and one of the most important of all the benefits of fish oil supplements.

This is one of the biggest killers in our society today and part of the reason for that is many people don’t realize they have it until it’s too late. This is why the preventative measure of a daily capsule is so important, whether you eat fish regularly or not.

Other benefits are lower blood pressure and help with skin ailments like acne and psoriasis. Recent research shows us that the DHA in omega 3 fatty acid is more important than EPA and vital to keep our brain healthy and boosting our brain power!

It is estimated that 9 out of 10 people are not getting enough omega 3 and these days we are advised not to eat too much fish because of the toxins they contain, hence the warning to pregnant women to only have two portions a week.

So the benefits of fish oil supplements are nothing short of amazing, but finding the right one is crucial as many are very poor in quality and overpriced.

Any supplement you buy should be pharmaceutical grade and molecularly distilled to remove all of the contaminants like mercury, concentrating the oil and still leaving it in its natural form so the body can absorb it easily.

Look at the website or label to see the actual DHA and EPA quantities. If you can find it, avoid the product.

For example the one I take has 28% DHA and 12% EPA content, with half of the total oil amount being omega fatty acids. Purity is also key to get the most benefits of fish oil supplements and to avoid those fishy burps, and again this one is taken from Hoki and Tuna fish from the pristine waters of southern New Zealand.

Adding these to your daily routine could be one of the best and cost-effective health investments you could ever make, helping you to maintain optimal health for now and the future too.

The rest is here: A Guide to the Benefits of Fish Oil Supplements

I Don’t Know what to Eat During Pregnancy; Can I Eat Fish?

Everyone agrees that fish is good for you, but what kinds, how much and whether it is safe for pregnant women seems to be in a constant state of flux.  What to eat during pregnancy can be a little controversial when it comes to fish.

When you are already worrying about what to eat during pregnancy, all the controversy may seem like too much to handle.  Not to worry – we can clear it all up – more or less.

Why is Fish Controversial?
There are two reasons that fish is controversial; ecology and mercury.  The first relates to issues of overfishing, the effect of fish on the ecological balance and so forth.  From a pregnancy standpoint those aren’t at question.  The second, mercury content, is very important with regards to your pregnancy.

Mercury is a heavy metal that accumulates in the cells of predators that are high on the food chain.  For example, sharks contain more mercury than sardines.  What does that mean to you as a pregnant woman?  It means that if you eat fish that contain high levels of mercury, you could, potentially, endanger the development of your child’s brain.

How likely is this to happen?  The chances are slim, unless you make a point of eating fish that are on the watch list as containing unsafe levels of mercury or even high levels of mercury.  On the positive side, it seems that the brain boosting powers of deep sea fish–for example omega 3s–help prevent that same damage.

Keep an eye on the safe fish list and stick to those that are safest, in other words, those that contain the least mercury and PCBs.

What About Shell Fish?
In general, shell fish are just as safe as regular fish during your pregnancy.  There are some exceptions, though.  Any raw shell fish should be avoided.  The same holds true for raw fish.  The reason is that raw foods may contain parasites and bacteria that can be harmful to you and your baby.

If you cook clams, oysters and muscles at home, make sure they are thoroughly cooked.  Throw out any whose shells remain closed after the cooking process. Lobster and shrimp should be cooked until the color has turned properly red, and scallops should be completely opaque.

The Up Side
A fairly recent study that tackled the issue of eating fish during pregnancy has encouraging results.  In this extensive, although self reported study, women were followed through pregnancy and their children were followed for 8 years after delivery.  Women who ate 12 of more ounces of fish per week while pregnant had measurably smarter kids.

While it is impossible to draw definitive conclusions from just one study, regardless of how large it was, there seems to be some confirmation to what your mother told you.  Fish may indeed be brain food.

Fish provides great lean protein, a number of heart healthy fats and is known to offer all sorts of health benefits.  As long as your fish is properly cooked it is reasonable to believe that you can certainly eat fish during your pregnancy.
